The Surdna Foundation has announced the appointment of ADAM CONNAKER as director of impact investing. Connaker will oversee a $100 million portfolio and lead an ongoing effort to align the foundation’s investment policies and practices with its social justice mission, supporting the foundation’s efforts to meet the risk, return, and impact objectives of its program- and mission-related investments, create wealth in communities of color, and foster a just, sustainable future.
The Ball Brothers Foundation has announced the appointment of RICK PETTY, a fourth-generation Ball family member, to its board of directors; he also was elected to serve as treasurer of the board. Petty has served on the foundation’s Finance Committee since 2014. He is currently the chief investment officer of the Stavros Niarchos Foundation—one of the world’s leading private, international philanthropic organizations—which makes grants to nonprofit organizations in the areas of arts and culture, education, health and sports, and social welfare.
The National Council of Nonprofits (NCN) has announced that DONNA MURRAY-BROWN will join its team as vice president of strategy and development on July 1. Murray-Brown recently concluded an eight-year tenure as president and CEO of the Michigan Nonprofit Association (MNA).
The NewSchools Venture Fund has announced that STACEY CHILDRESS will step down as CEO, effective January 1, 2023. The organization’s board of directors has named FRANCES MESSANO as her successor. Since Childress joined in 2014, NewSchools has invested in schools and organizations committed to ensuring students build a strong academic foundation and other important mindsets, habits, and skills necessary for long-term success.
The American Kidney Fund has announced the addition of five people to its national volunteer board of trustees, all of whom have worked throughout their careers to advance health equity and advocate for improvements to health care and quality of life for all those affected by kidney disease. The new members are KENNETH R. BRIDGES, OLIVER T. BROOKS, JAMIE A. GREEN, MALAY B. SHAH, and PRISCILLA VANDERVEER.
Americans for the Arts has announced two recent hires to fill pivotal roles for the organization. ADRIANNE R. TROILO joined as vice president of people and culture in December 2021, and DANIEL FITZMAURICE will begin as the chief of staff on April 4. Both are newly created positions designed to provide leadership and help the organization achieve a people-first culture.
Global Impact, a leader in growing global philanthropy, has announced the addition of five members to its board of directors: ERIK ARNOLD, NICOLE HOWE BUGGS, LISA TREVIÑO CUMMINS, CHARLES OWUBAH, and KAREN WAWRZASZEK. Elected at the March board meeting, they will begin serving in March.
The Metropolitan Museum of Art has announced the appointment of LESLEY MA as the inaugural Ming Chu Hsu and Daniel Xu associate curator of Asian art in the department of modern and contemporary art. Ma joins the Met from M+, Hong Kong’s museum of visual culture, where she has served as founding curator of Ink Art since 2013.
The Solomon R. Guggenheim Foundation has announced the election of FRANK YU to its board of trustees. Yu is the founder, CEO, and chief investment officer of Ally Bridge Group, a leading global life science investment group with dual headquarters in New York and Hong Kong. He began his career in New York and has worked in Hong Kong for more than two decades.
