Arnold Ventures in Washington, D.C., has announced the appointment of two new vice presidents: ANDREW BACHER-HICKS was appointed vice president of evidence and evaluation, and JENNIFER LAUDANO was appointed vice president of advocacy and health care. Bacher-Hicks previously served as an assistant professor at Boston University’s Wheelock College of Education and Human Development. Laudano previously served as senior director of communications and community engagement at the National Academy for State Health Policy.
Carnegie Corporation of New York has announced the planned departure of board chair THOMAS H. KEAN, former governor of New Jersey, and the election of the board’s vice chair, JANET L. ROBINSON, as his successor. Kean served as chair for 22 years. Robinson was president and CEO of the New York Times Company from 2004-12.
The Kenneth Rainin Foundation in Oakland, California, has announced the promotion of ALEXANDRIA FEATHERSTON-GOMEZ to grants management and learning officer. Featherston-Gomez joined the foundation in 2017 as a program assistant.
The Kresge Foundation in Troy, Michigan, has announced the retirement of of environment program managing director LOIS R. DEBACKER effective September 27, 2024. She has worked in the field of philanthropy for 33 years, including more than 16 years with the foundation.
The Morehead-Cain Foundation in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, has announced the appointment of TIMOTHY SULLIVAN as chair of the board of trustees. Sullivan is a former president, CEO, and chair of Ancestry.com.
The Jewish Theological Seminary in New York City has announced the election of three new members to its board of trustees: RACHEL GILDINER, JAN POPKIN, and LIZ SEMBLER. Gildiner was recently appointed executive director of Safety, Respect, Equity Network. Popkin was formerly the CEO and founder of Popkin Software and Systems. Sembler is a retired educator and school administrator.
Cleveland-based Three Arches Foundation has announced the election of three new members to its board of directors: DOMONIC HOPSON, SELINA PAGÁN, and LEE PEÑA. Hopson is president and CEO of Neighborhood Family Practice. Pagán is the executive director at the Young Latino Network. Peña is the fiscal officer at Hispanic UMADAOP. In addition, the foundation has elected GINA GAVLAK as board chair.
