The Los Angeles-based California Endowment has tapped MARY LOU FULTON to serve as its communications and media program officer. Fulton, most recently vice president of audience development for the Bakersfield Californian, has twenty years of experience as a media innovator; her projects include the "Bakomatic" social media platform that powers blogs in Bakersfield, and which won a 2006 Knight-Batten Award for Innovation in Journalism. In addition, she worked to pioneer the concept of "citizen journalism" through the creation of The Northwest Voice and Southwest Voice community Web sites.

The Archibald Bush Foundation in St. Paul, Minnesota, has added PAULA FORBES to its leadership/community engagement team. Forbes, an adjunct professor at the University of Minnesota, was most recently labor counsel for Northwest Airlines. Previously she worked in legal positions at UnitedHealthcare, St. Paul Fire and Marine Insurance, and the Minneapolis School District, as well as at two private law firms.

The Hispanic Foundation of Silicon Valley in San José, California, has named former Mayor RON GONZALES as its new president and CEO. Gonzales was earlier an executive at the Hewlett-Packard Company, and served on the Sunnyvale City Council and Santa Clara County Board of Supervisors. After two terms as San José's mayor, Gonzales founded two entrepreneurial companies, Presencia, LLC, and Presencia Technology, LLC. Gonzales fills the vacancy left by Teresa Alvarado, the foundation's first executive director.

The New York City-based Wallace Foundation has elected LINDA DARLING-HAMMOND to its board. Darling-Hammond, one of the nation's leading scholars in education and leader of President Obama's education policy transition team, is Charles E. Ducommun Professor of Education at Stanford University. Earlier, she was president of the American Educational Research Association, executive director of the National Commission on Teaching and America's Future, and directed the RAND Corporation's education policy program.
