Phoenix Children’s 1 Darn Cool School receives $2.25 million
Desert Financial Credit Union (DFCU) in Phoenix has announced a $2.25 million grant to Phoenix Children’s Hospital’s 1 Darn Cool School.
Awarded through the Desert Financial Foundation, the funding will bolster programming at the accredited in-hospital K-12 school, which provides hospitalized children with classroom, bedside, in-person, and virtual education and resources to ensure they stay on track academically, while facing chronic illness or life-changing injury. According to a news release, the school is fully funded by the foundation, DFCU, its members, and employees.
“As a credit union founded by teachers, we understand the transformative power of education,” said Desert Financial Credit Union president Jeff Meshey. “This donation is about more than just dollars; it’s about ensuring that every child at Phoenix Children’s has the tools they need to learn, thrive, and stay connected as they receive care.”
