Prudential Foundation Awards $2.9 Million in Grants
The Prudential Foundation in Newark, New Jersey, has announced five grants totaling $2.9 million to organizations working to address community needs.
The awards include a three-year, $1 million challenge grant to the Boys & Girls Club of Newark to help build a new club house; a three-year, $1 million grant to the Smithsonian Institution to support construction of the National Museum of African American History and Culture in Washington, D.C.; a $350,000 grant to New York City-based New Leaders for New Schools to help fund a pilot program in Newark; and a two-year, $350,000 grant to the Center for Nonprofit and Philanthropic Leadership at Rutgers University in Newark for a program to enhance the skills of nonprofit leaders. In addition, the Liberty Science Center in Jersey City was awarded $200,000 for an expansion of its facilities.
