San Manuel Band of Mission Indians Awards $25 Million to Loma Linda
Loma Linda University in California has announced a gift of $25 million from the San Manuel Band of Mission Indians in support of Loma Linda University Children's Hospital.
Announced at the annual Children's Hospital Foundation gala, during which San Manuel was presented with a Discover Lifetime Achievement Award, the largest gift ever made by the tribe solidifies the century-long partnership between San Manuel and the hospital. In recognition of the gift, the fifth floor of Loma Linda Health's new adult acute care hospital will be named the San Manuel Maternity Pavilion. Nearly 50 percent of the births at the three hundred and forty bed hospital — which provides care to nearly a hundred thousand patients annually — are characterized as high risk.
"San Manuel is grateful for the compassion shown to our elders by Loma Linda University Health many decades ago," said tribal secretary Ken Ramirez. "We are excited about the new opportunities and lifesaving care that the new Children's Hospital will offer to our shared community and loved ones."
