Seattle Foundation Awards $1.2 Million in Grants
The Seattle Foundation has announced $1.2 million in fourth-quarter grants to fifty-nine King County nonprofit organizations through its Community Grantmaking Program.
The program provides grants to local nonprofit organizations across a range of fields, including arts, culture and humanities, education, animals and the environment, health and human services, and public and society benefit. Featured grants this quarter include $40,000 to the Atlantic Street Center, which helps families and communities raise healthy and successful children and youth; $30,000 to CASA Latina, an organization that works to empower Latino immigrants through educational and economic opportunities; and $75,000 for the capital campaign of FareStart, which assists homeless and disadvantaged men, women, and families to achieve self-sufficiency through life skills, job training, and employment in the food service industry.
"The Seattle Foundation is proud to build and sustain these local organizations that provide critical services to meet the basic needs of individuals and help ensure a healthy community," said foundation president and CEO Phyllis Campbell. "We are impressed by their constant efforts to respond to the needs of people in our community and make our region a great place to live."
