St. David's Foundation Awards $7.2 Million to Austin-Area Organizations for Access to Health Care
St. David's Foundation in Austin, Texas, has announced $7.2 million in grants to area nonprofits promoting access to health care for the underserved and the elderly in Central Texas.
Approximately $5.7 million was awarded to seventeen organizations working to provide primary and specialty care, including $1.7 million to Lone Star Circle of Care, $2.3 million to People's Community Clinic, and $150,000 to AIDS Services of Austin. In addition, grants totaling $1.5 million were awarded to thirteen groups serving the elderly, including $175,000 to Family Eldercare, $224,847 to Meals on Wheels and More, and $160,000 to Austin Groups for the Elderly.
"Each December we direct our giving to services for the elderly in our community, along with grants for primary care," said St. David's Foundation CEO Earl Maxwell. "We recognize that so many of our older residents face a daunting array of challenges from maintaining proper nutrition, getting to and from doctor's appointments and even obtaining needed dental care. With the $1.5 million in grants to groups serving the elderly, the foundation hopes to help address these needs in a significant way."
