St. Louis University Receives $1 Million for Biomedical Research Facility

The New York City-based AT&T Foundation, the philanthropic arm of AT&T, Inc., has announced a $1 million gift to the Saint Louis University Health Sciences Center to support construction of its biomedical research building.

In recognition of the gift, the eighth floor of the ten-story tower in midtown St. Louis will be named in honor of the company and will house the existing multi-disciplinary Center for Vaccine Development. The floor also will house a laboratory suite where researchers will work with indigenous and exotic agents, including a wide spectrum of viruses, bacteria, and fungi that can cause serious or potentially lethal diseases.

"The generous commitment of the AT&T Foundation to the Saint Louis University research building will allow us to incorporate cutting-edge technologies to support the work of more than two hundred biomedical researchers in midtown St. Louis," said SLU president Lawrence Biondi.
