Syracuse University has announced a gift of nearly $2 million from alumni Steven W. and Beth Ballentine (’83) for club sports.

Part of the Forever Orange Campaign, the gift will help establish a dedicated field with lights for club sports and an endowed fund in support of club sports programs and participants who might need assistance with fees, equipment, and travel expenses.  In recognition of the gift, Syracuse University’s Club Sports Program has been named after the donors. Steven played club volleyball during his time at the university, and the couple has maintained a strong connection to their alma mater, previously providing lead gifts for the establishment of the Ballentine Investment Institute at the Whitman School of Management.

“Steve and Beth’s support will create an even more outstanding experience for the hundreds of students every year who find a place of belonging at Syracuse through club sports,” said Syracuse University chancellor Kent Syverud. “Their generosity will help nurture student success beyond the classroom. It will also encourage more students to integrate fitness, teamwork, and leadership into their Orange experience. I am grateful to the Ballentines for a gift that will improve students’ well-being and enhance the student experience.”
