TD Bank Provided $461 Million to New York Nonprofits in 2016

TD Bank in Cherry Hill, New Jersey, has announced that it provided a total of $460.8 million in loans, lines of credit, and letters of credit to New York City area nonprofit, education, and government agencies during its 2016 fiscal year.

Administered by the bank's not-for-profit group, the funding included support for renovations, real estate transactions, and municipal services. Among the transactions closed the bank were $39.1 million loan to the United States Fund for UNICEF for a tax-exempt bond that will be used to refinance its headquarters building in Manhattan and cut the interest paid by the organization by half, saving it millions over the life of the loan; $47.9 million to the ADAPT Community Network (formerly United Cerebral Palsy of New York City) for both a tax-exempt and taxable direct purchase of Series 2016A and 2018B bonds to refinance the costs of renovating its offices and moving its educational services into the space; a $10 million loan to the Windward School to purchase a residential building for its Manhattan campus; and a $169.7 million letter of credit to the Metropolitan Transportation Authority enabling two series of Transportation Revenue Variable Rate Refunding bonds.
