The University of St. Thomas in St. Paul, Minnesota, has announced a $20 million gift from the alumni family of Joe (’80), Pat (’75), and Ann Ryan.

The gift will support construction of the Lee and Penny Anderson Arena, which will house facilities for the university’s hockey and basketball teams when it opens in 2025. The plaza directly in front of the arena will be named in honor of the family.

“The University of St. Thomas has meant a great deal to our…families, and we are honored to be able to make this gift to support this transformational project,” said Joe Ryan. “We are so grateful for what our families have received over the past 60-plus years from the university and are blessed to be able to give back.”
