Williamsburg Health Foundation awards $3.9 million in grants
 
            
    
    
                   
					The Williamsburg Health Foundation (WHF) has announced 21 grants totaling $3.9 million to nonprofits in Virginia’s tidewater area.
The grants were awarded in the areas of behavioral health services, healthy aging, healthy eating active living, integrated care, and two-generation family services to address the most pressing health-related needs of communities in the City of Williamsburg as well as York and James City counties. Recipients include the Virginia Health Care Foundation, which was awarded $50,000 to fund the accelerated licensure of behavioral health counselors and a licensed social worker as part of its initiative to address the area’s mental health workforce shortage.
In addition, several grants will bolster regional efforts to reduce food insecurity, including awards to Boys & Girls Club, Grove Christian Outreach Center, W-JCC Community Action Agency, and Williamsburg House of Mercy.
