Yawkey Foundation awards $3.3 million for Boston-area human services
The Yawkey Foundation has announced grants totaling $3.3 million in support of human services organizations working in the Boston area.
Through its Program & Small Capital Grants program, the foundation awarded grants of up to $100,000 to sixty nonprofits providing critical resources of food, shelter, and supportive services for underserved youth and families. The program provides high-impact, innovative nonprofits with support for programming, small projects, or equipment aligned with the nonprofit’s mission.
Recipients include Action for Boston Community Development, the Cambodian Mutual Assistance Association, Food Bank of Western Massachusetts, the Housing Assistance Corporation, My Brother’s Keeper, New Beginnings ReEntry Services, and Veterans Transition House.
“Throughout their lifetimes, Tom Yawkey and Jean Yawkey quietly and generously supported organizations providing basic needs for countless vulnerable individuals and families,” said Yawkey Foundation trustee and CEO Maureen H. Bleday. “The trustees were deeply touched by each one of these organizations’ dedication to helping others, especially the most vulnerable individuals and families needing assistance to be healthy, safe, and secure. We are honored and humbled to play a small part in the holistic, compassionate, and dignified care provided to those most in-need by these impressive and tireless nonprofits.”
