Zwick Foundation Gives $3.5 Million to Kilgore College for New Dormitory
Kilgore College in Kilgore, Texas, has received a $3.5 million grant from the Zwick Foundation for the construction of a new dormitory for its nationally renowned dance-and-drill team, the Kilgore News Herald reports.
The grant — the largest ever to the college — will fund the construction of a new residence for the Kilgore Rangerettes designed to accommodate up to eighty freshman and sophomore line members. In addition, the facility will feature many design and management elements that take into account the unique demands and schedules of the organization.
Foundation co-founder Kathryn Heller Zwick was a Rangerette from Longview who attended Kilgore College and performed with the team from 1976 to 1978. She and her husband, Nick, live in California and have continued to stay active in the life of the Rangerette organization.
"We are excited to partner with Nick and Kathy Zwick on this venture," said college president William Holda. "This residence will provide the Rangerettes a quality living environment and will allow the college more flexibility in replacing the housing for the other Kilgore College women students in the future."
