Citylinks
Mission:
To serve as an online information and solutions resource to enhance community life.
Background:
Citylinks is an interactive community portal that provides nonprofit organizations nationwide with free tools to create awareness of their services, publicize special events, post item needs, request online donations, and recruit volunteers. In addition, individuals in need can find local community service providers by searching by keyword, distance from their home, or type of service; they also have access to resource links and community service opportunities. Citylinks was officially launched in 2004 by Efrain Rodriguez, who worked in the corporate world for twenty years and wanted to give something back.
Outstanding Features:
Citylink's nonprofit web directory promotes awareness of and traffic to nonprofit organizations. Its help network contains more than 400,000 community service providers nationwide. The community service section of the site provides individuals with information on volunteering, opportunities to volunteer, and awards related to voluntarism. Resource links features useful sites for adults, kids, and families. Its charity item needs page allows donors to search by zip code for the needs of nonprofits in their area and to list items they have to donate. An online newsletter is available.
