Mission:
To provide leadership, institutions, and services to restore and improve the health of children through care and programs not readily available, with a high standard of quality and distinction, regardless of the recipient's financial status.
Background:
Employing more than 400 specialty and subspecialty physicians and surgeons, Nemours is one of the nation's largest group practices for children. Headquartered in Jacksonville, Florida, it owns and operates the Alfred I. duPont Hospital for Children in Wilmington, Delaware, and four children's specialty centers in Wilmington, Jacksonville, Orlando, and Pensacola, Florida. The organization also operates the Nemours Cardiac Center in Wilmington, Nemours Health Clinic in Jacksonville, and Nemours Center for Children's Health Media. Nemours operates partnership children's clinics in Pennsylvania and New Jersey as well. The organization was incorporated in 1936, one year after the death of Alfred I. duPont, who's will provided for the establishment of Nemours. Each year since then, Nemours has received earnings from the Alfred I. duPont Testamentary Trust.
Outstanding Web Features:
Through its Web site, Nemours provides a variety of services including e-referrals and e-appointments. It also features information on research and education and enables visitors to search for doctors. Nemours Center for Children's Health Media creates books and videos and operates the KidsHealth Web site to help families find useful health information, with information targeting parents, kids, and teens. Nemours Health and Prevention Services offers information and resources intended to help children grow up healthy, and the Nemours Center for Medical Leadership provides expertise in the development and facilitation of medical leadership programs. The site also offers visitors an online tour of some of its facilities.
