Hunger Action Center

Hunger Action Center

Mission:
To support policies that help solve America's growing hunger crisis and raise public awareness about the issue of hunger.

Background:
Powered by Feeding America, the nation's largest charitable hunger relief organization, the Hunger Action Center is an online community that works to raise public awareness about the issue of hunger in the United States. Together with members of the site, the Hunger Action Center supports federal, state, and local legislation that addresses the many factors contributing to food insecurity among children, seniors, the working poor, and rural areas.

Outstanding Web Features:
Visitors to the Hunger Action Center site can set up a profile, select issues of interest, and receive personalized information from Feeding America about those issues and take action. For example, the "My Legislators" tab makes it easy for registered users to e-mail their federal and state representatives, while the "My Participation" section keeps track of any actions the user takes, such as sending a letter to a state legislator. Each federal and state legislator has a profile page on the Feeding America site, which includes biographical information and a photo. Site visitors also are encouraged to submit their personal stories about why they believe Feeding America is critical to the fight to end hunger.
