OntheBoards.tv

Mission:
To make available high-quality videos of full-length performances by contemporary artists in dance, theater, music, and other disciplines.

Background:
OntheBoards.tv is a project of On the Boards, a center for contemporary performance that has been introducing Seattle audiences to innovators in dance, theater, and music since 1978. The project was launched after the successful introduction of online content — performance review blogs, artist interviews, podcast lectures — to accompany the center's live performances. With support from the Wallace Foundation and DanceUSA, OntheBoards.tv makes performances accessible to a wide range of audiences, including young people and individuals with busy schedules or who cannot afford the price of a ticket.

Outstanding Web Features:
OntheBoards.tv lets individuals view low-resolution videos of performances for free; high-resolution versions can be "rented" (streamed online) or "owned" (downloaded for viewing anytime on a computer or mobile device). Individuals and educational institutions also can subscribe to the service for a flat yearly rate. In additon, the site features a blog and links to the organization's Facebook and YouTube pages.
