The Better Way Foundation in Minneapolis has announced the selection of NICHOLAS BANOVETZ as its next executive director. Banovetz previously served as chief of staff for Great MN Schools, a venture philanthropy network of foundations, schools, and community and advocacy organizations that he helped incubate at the Minneapolis Foundation.

HealthSpark Foundation in Colmar, Pennsylvania, has announced the selection of EMMA HERTZ as the foundation’s CEO and president, effective December 5, 2022. Hertz previously served as director of external affairs for HealthSpark Foundation and most recently was strategy director of the County of Montgomery Recovery Office. She will succeed RUSSELL JOHNSON, who is retiring after leading the foundation since its inception in 2002.

The Open Society Foundations in New York City has announced the appointment of GEORGIA LEVENSON KEOHANE as chief executive of the Soros Economic Development Fund (SEDF) effective November 14. Keohane teaches at Columbia Business School, where she hosts the Capital for Good podcast.

Big Brothers Big Sisters of America has announced the addition of four executives to its national board: BETSY BURDICK, founder and president of Momentors, Inc.; TIM ELLIS, executive vice president and chief marketing officer of the National Football League; NICOLE PETERSON, vice president, global planning and analysis at UPS; and KATHY SHIELDS, founder and chair of the Jack and Kathy Shields Family Foundation.

The Contemporary Arts Center (CAC) in Cincinnati has announced the appointment of CHRISTINA VASSALLO as the institution’s Alice & Harris Weston Director, effective March 2023. Currently the executive director of the Fabric Workshop and Museum in Philadelphia, she also served as executive and artistic director of SPACES in Cleveland from 2014 to 2019.

The New York Public Library has announced the election of ABBY S. MILSTEIN to succeed EVAN R. CHESLER as chair of its board of trustees. An attorney and founding partner of the law firm Constantine Cannon, Milstein has been a member of the library’s board of trustees for 25 years, serving as vice chair and chair of the executive committee since 2014.

Sister Warriors in San Francisco has announced the selection of AMIKA MOTA as its executive director. Most recently, Mota served as policy director at Young Women’s Freedom Center, where she led the ACA 3 campaign, an amendment that would have barred involuntary servitude in California.

Washington Performing Arts (WPA) has announced the addition of eight members to its Junior Board, which comprises arts enthusiasts under 40 years old who are committed to enhancing philanthropy, leadership, and advocacy in support of WPA’s mission and within the D.C. community. The eight new board members are JENELLE COY, DEVIKA DAGA, SHARI FELDMAN, SIMON PATMORE-ZARCONE , HUGO ROJO, AARTHY THAMODARAN, MOHIT TUTEJA, and CHARIESE WALTON.
