The James Irvine Foundation in California has announced the election of TIM RIOS as chair of the board of directors for the next three years. Rios is a senior vice president in Wells Fargo’s Social Impact and Sustainability Group and leads the company’s Rural and Native American strategy.

The J. Paul Getty Trust in Los Angeles has announced the election of ANTONIETA MONALDI ARANGO to its board of directors. Arango is president of the Aramont Charitable Foundation, a California-based family foundation. 

The McKnight Foundation in Minneapolis has announced the addition of SACHA-ROSE PHILLIPS as a program officer and MICHAEL ROBERTS as a senior program officer in its Midwest Climate & Energy program, both effective November 14. Phillips most recently worked for the Environmental Defense Fund in New York City, designing and implementing policy strategies to advance research and programs on transportation, energy, climate, and coastal resilience. Roberts previously worked in Athens, Georgia, on issues of land conservation, farmer and food system development, and building bridges between local community development and weatherization and renewable energy initiatives. 

PepsiCo Inc in Purchase, New York, has announced the appointment of C.D. GLIN as president of the PepsiCo Foundation. Most recently vice president of the PepsiCo Foundation and global head of philanthropy for PepsiCo, Glin will continue to oversee the foundation’s strategic direction toward a more sustainable food system through the foundation’s three core pillars: food security, safe water access, and economic opportunity. 

The College Board in New York City has announced new board officers and seven new trustees. TOM MOORE was elected to serve as chair, SUSAN ENFIELD was elected to serve as vice chair, and RONNÉ TURNER will transition into the role of past chair. Nationally elected board members include KEDRA ISHOP, JENNIFER NORRELL, and ELIZABETH CHACKO. Regionally elected board members include PATTI MCCARTHY in Pennsylvania, ADRIAN PALAZUELOS in California, and MAGGIE HINOJOSA in Texas. 

The Frick Collection in New York City has announced the election of RAFAEL MASON to its board. Mason is currently an operating partner at Bain Capital and previously served as senior vice president for Global Premium Products at American Express in New York. 

The Grameen Foundation in Washington, D.C., has announced the selection of ZUBAIDA BAI as its next president and CEO. Bai is the first woman and the first Indian American to lead the organization. Before joining Grameen Foundation, she served as the managing director of CARE Social Ventures

The International Center of Photography in New York City has announced the addition of five board members: CINDY SHERMAN, UZODINMA IWEALA, JANE CORKIN, ROBERT FRIBOURG, and JONATHAN R. FURER. 

The Marshall Project, a New York City-based nonprofit journalism organization focused on the U.S. criminal justice system, has announced the addition of ANA GRACIELA MÉNDEZ as product manager. Méndez will work closely with designers, developers, and stakeholders across the organization to elevate the journalism produced. 

PFLAG National in Washington, D.C., has announced the election of SARAH ECHOHAWK to its board of directors. EchoHawk, CEO of Advancing Indigenous People in STEM, is the first Indigenous person to serve on PFLAG’s board of directors.

The Sean Connery Foundation has announced that HOLLY GORDON, formerly chief impact officer at Participant, will serve as its founding executive director. Established earlier this year, nearly two years after the actor’s death, the foundation is focused on strategic grantmaking in support of institutions and organizations in Scotland and the Bahamas, the two countries Connery called home.

PND also notes the passing of REV. CALVIN O. BUTTS III, chair of the Abyssinian Development Corporation. Butts spent three decades as pastor of Abyssinian Baptist Church. His work with the Abyssinian Development Corporation became a model for other faith-based development companies that invested in their communities, both in New York City and nationally.
