The Foundation for Contemporary Arts (FCA) has announced the recipients of its 2024 Grants to Artists awards totaling $1,035,000 to 23 artists recognizing their experimental work in dance, music, performance, poetry, and visual arts.

Recipients of the awards, which were launched in 1993, will each receive $45,000 in unrestricted funding. This year, FCA inaugurated two new awards: the Viola Farber Award in dance, named in honor of the choreographer and early FCA board member, which was awarded to Hsiao-Jou Tang (New York City) and the Alvin Lucier Award for Music, endowed by composer, which was awarded to James Lo (New York City). Other recipients include Petra Bravo (Dance, San Juan, Puerto Rico); Morgan Craft (Music, New Brighton, Minnesota); Tei Blow (performance, Brooklyn, New York); Lillian-Yvonne Bertram (poetry, Baltimore, Maryland); and Suzanne Jackson (visual arts, Savannah, Georgia).

“We are thrilled to celebrate the twenty-three artists who comprise this year’s Grants to Artists Award recipients” said FCA board co-chair Cecily Brown. “Ranging from early career artists to those whose work has long deserved more recognition, these artists have inspired us with their bold ideas, rigorous practices, and engagement with their communities.”
