SDGfunders.org
Mission: To facilitate philanthropic engagement and cross-sector collaboration in the global development process through knowledge sharing and access to data.
Background: A partnership of the United Nations Development Programme, Foundation Center, and Rockefeller Philanthropy Advisors, SDGfunders.org is designed to facilitate partnerships between philanthropy and the broader global development community to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals. Timed to coincide with the United Nations Sustainable Development Summit 2015, the portal aims to build bridges by encouraging philanthropy, the UN, governments, business, and CSOs to collaborate; shift the philanthropy sector mindset toward a more inclusive approach; advocate the importance of understanding data to achieve the SDGs; and improve knowledge of and the capacity to use data as a driver of philanthropic investment and to achieve development outcomes.
Outstanding Web Features: Powered by Foundation Center, with funding from the Mastercard, Ford, and Conrad N. Hilton foundations, among others, SDGfunders.org is a centralized portal for the sharing of data and knowledge as well as the visualization of progress toward global development outcomes. Among other features, the portal offers interactive maps and dashboards that track key funding data (both philanthropic and official development assistance) related to individual Millennium Development Goals, as well as by country and population groups. It also lists top funders and recipients working on specific SDGs; provides access to a range of global development literature, including case studies and interviews with development experts; hosts an online community that is intended to serve as a hub for discussion and knowledge sharing; and makes it easy for funders and others to get involved in the SDG effort.
