Taproot+
Mission:
To provide a low-touch, high-impact model that makes pro bono easier to access and manage for nonprofit organizations and the skilled volunteers they rely on.
Background:
Launched by the Taproot Foundation in 2014 with support from the Kresge Foundation, Citi Foundation, PricewaterhouseCoopers, and HP, Taproot+ is a free online platform that helps nonprofit organizations describe their needs and connect with motivated volunteers with the skills to help. Nonprofits and volunteers can use the platform to find a match for both in-person and virtual services.
Outstanding Web Features:
Visitors to the site can watch a webinar that explains how Taproot+ works, browse current or recently completed projects, or sign up to volunteer their expertise on a project of their choice. Nonprofit organizations can submit a project proposal to solicit volunteer services in categories ranging from accounting/auditing, to research, to website design; Taproot+ provides assistance with posts so that they are clear and easy to respond to, arranges phone calls with qualified volunteers; and offers project management advice.
