Background:
Xigi.net (pronounced "ziggy," as in zeitgeist) was launched in 2004 as an online space where people active in social capital markets could gather and compare notes and experiences. The site helps these emerging markets grow through market formation activities and by connecting them to entrepreneurs while providing news, research, and analytical tools.

Outstanding Web Features:
The xigi site features a searchable database containing information about people, organizations, and investment offerings in sectors such as social enterprise, microfinance, affordable housing, fair trade, and clean technology. The xigiDiscovery tool connects social entrepreneurs to mini-profiles of potential investors, while xigiMaps allows site visitors to create maps that help them track their own work in the field, research what others are doing, and/or forge new partnerships. The site also features a blog and newsletter.
