CICF announces nearly $2.9 million in Violent Crime Reduction grants

The Central Indiana Community Foundation, in partnership with the City of Indianapolis, has announced 2022 Violent Crime Reduction grants totaling $2.897 million.

Thirty organizations will receive grants in support of projects that develop and implement integrated, evidence-based practices to prevent and reduce crime in Indianapolis. The Violent Crime Reduction Grant Program is administered by Indianapolis Foundation, an affiliate of CICF, administers the grants using criteria and funding provided annually by the Indianapolis City-County Council. This year the city allocated additional funding for community programming initiatives focused specifically on domestic violence reduction, youth mental health, and early intervention to support juveniles.

Grant recipients include the Domestic Violence Network, which was awarded $105,500 in support of a fund that provides financial assistance to help individuals leave abusive situations; National Alliance for Mental Illness Indianapolis Inc., which will receive $66,000 to provide a cognitive-behavioral program for youth between the ages of 12 and 17 to increase coping skills and reduce stress related to academics, peer pressure, interpersonal conflict, and identity; and Warren Arts & Education Foundation Inc., which was awarded $125,000, for its early intervention program that identifies and supports students exhibiting early and progressive signs of disengagement from schools and formal systems, diverting them away from the juvenile justice system.

“Creating pathways to domestic violence reduction, youth mental health, and early intervention support for juveniles is crucial in the overall strategy of disrupting crime in our community,” said CICF director of community leadership Alicia Collins.
