Cleveland Foundation Announces $16 Million in Grants

The Cleveland Foundation has announced grants totaling $16 million to local nonprofit organizations, including $1.5 million through its capital grants program.

The foundation awarded grants of $500,000 to the Care Alliance, to support the relocation and expansion of its health clinic for the homeless; the Center for Families and Children, to support the expansion and renovation of the Midtown Human Services Training Center as part of its Building on Hope campaign; and Mental Health Services for Homeless Persons, Inc., to support the purchase and renovation of a new building that will enable the agency to improve its services while consolidating its operations under one roof.

In addition, the foundation awarded $3 million to the Musical Arts Association to support a new business model and educational and outreach programs for the Cleveland Orchestra; $275,000 to the Cleveland Play House in support of its first season under the leadership of artistic director Michael Bloom; and $500,000 to Neighborhood Progress, Inc. and its Strategic Investment Initiatives program.
