Alabama
The Community Foundation of Greater Birmingham has announced the appointment of Amy Bickers Abeyta as vice president of marketing and communications and the addition of four new board members. Turner Burton is president of Hoar Construction. Bing Edwards is an attorney and founder of Fortif Law Partners. David Germany is vice president and assistant treasurer at Protective Life Corporation. And Catherine Meehan is a community volunteer.
Arkansas
The Arkansas Community Foundation has announced the addition of Linsley Matteson Kinkade as its chief program officer. For the past 16 years, she has helped lead Winrock International’s U.S. programs.
California
The Santa Barbara Foundation has announced the addition of four trustees. The new members are George Adam, owner of Innovative Produce; attorney Alexandra Allen, the house counsel at Main Street Produce and Freshway Farms; Kiah Jordan, founder of Impact Family Office; and Lois Mitchell, a former president of the Orfalea Foundations and philanthropic consultant.
Kansas
The Norton County Community Foundation has announced two grants totaling $1,700 through its Dane G. Hansen Community Grant Fund, which offers financial support to projects and programs in northwest Kansas. The grants will support education initiatives at K-State Research and Extension Twin Creeks District and USD 211.
New Mexico
The Santa Fe Community Foundation has announced that its Native American Advised Fund (NAAF) awarded $60,000 in grants to 17 nonprofits serving Native communities across New Mexico in 2023. The grants, which range from $1,000 to $6,000, support NAAF’s mission of enhancing Native lifeways and promoting the Indigenous core values of community, language, culture, and environment. Recipients include Indigenous Ways, Lightning Boy Foundation, Nizhoni Smiles, and Silver Bullet Productions.
Ohio
The Dayton Foundation has announced the recipients of the 2023 Joseph T. Cline Awards, which recognize City of Dayton employees who strive for excellence in their careers as public servants and in their civic contributions. The award amount varies each year, with recipients this year receiving $537.69 each. Since 1991, 230 city employees have been honored with this award for a total of $77,777 awarded to date.
Pennsylvania
The Erie Community Foundation has announced more than $235,000 in grants through its Helping Today program to benefit local nonprofits. Recipients include Community Blood Bank of Northwest Pennsylvania and Western New York, DrivingPal, Gannon University, and St. Martin Center.
Wisconsin
The Eau Claire Community Foundation has announced that 16 funds were added during 2023 to its family of funds. Fund types included agency endowment funds, which enable charitable organizations to establish endowment funds; acorn funds, which can be established with as little as $500 and award grants when they are fully funded; designated funds; donor-advised funds; field-of-interest funds; and unrestricted funds.
