California
San Diego Foundation has announced a gift of $100,000 from the city’s new Major League Soccer franchise. The funding will be used to directly benefit youth soccer initiatives and create opportunities for children from diverse backgrounds to access high-quality training, coaching, and additional resources.
Connecticut
The Hartford Foundation for Public Giving has announced that it is partnering with Capital Workforce Partners, the City of Hartford, and other public and private investors to increase access to career opportunities, summer employment, and support services for Hartford youths. According to the Connecticut Business and Industry Association, the state’s labor force is now the smallest it’s been since September 2021—down 16,700 workers in 2022 and down 45,800 over the last 12 months.
Florida
Central Florida Foundation (CFF) in Orlando has announced that organizations with annual revenue of less than $250,000 can now apply for a grant via video, as a part of an ongoing effort to break down barriers for nonprofits without the capacity to hire a professional grantwriter. This is CFF’s latest effort to advance nonprofit equity through its Thrive framework under the Community and Social Connection focus area.
The Gulf Coast Community Foundation in Venice has announced the election of David Sessions as chair and Anand Pallegar as vice chair of its board of directors. Sessions, who succeeds David Green, has served on the board since 2019, while Pallegar has served on the board since 2016.
Massachusetts
The Asian Community Fund at the Boston Foundation has announced that it has awarded $275,000 to 39 nonprofits led by and serving Asian American Pacific Islander (AAPI) communities across Massachusetts. Recipients include the Korean Cultural Society of Boston, Potencia, India Society of Worcester, and the Asian American Resource Workshop.
Michigan
The Community Foundation of Greater Flint has announced the appointment of Mark L. Miller as interim president and CEO, effective July 28. Miller, who is also vice chair of the board, will lead the foundation through its transition following the departure of Isaiah M. Oliver.
Pennsylvania
The Erie Community Foundation has announced a $2 million grant to United Way of Erie County to establish the Community School Model at Erie High School in Erie’s Public Schools. The investment in United Way’s Community School Model continues a series of strategic grants made by the foundation since five pilot community schools were launched in Erie’s Public Schools in 2016.
Utah
The Community Foundation of Utah has announced that the Utah Women’s Giving Circle celebrated its 12th and final round of grants. Since its inception in 2011, the giving circle has invested more than $225,000 through a total of 62 high-impact nonprofit projects. The final $30,000 in funding includes support to the Seekhaven Family Crisis & Resource Center, the AHA Foundation, Utah Abortion Fund, and Utah Women and Leadership Project.
