The California Community Foundation has named 12 Los Angeles County artists as recipients of the CCF Fellowship for Visual Artists (FVA), totaling $480,000 in unrestricted grants. The announcement comes after a two-year hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Fellows will each receive an unrestricted grant of $40,000, which is an investment in the artist’s career rather than support for a singular project. They also will receive access to career development support and networking opportunities. Over the last 34 years, FVA has awarded more than $6 million in unrestricted funds to over 300 artists.

The Chicago Community Trust has announced that 30 nonprofit organizations serving the Chicago region’s Latinx community were awarded a total of $750,000 in grant support from its Nuestro Futuro initiative. The funding is focused on enabling nonprofit organizations to improve access to early childhood education and immigration rights and services. This year funding for Latinx-serving and -led organizations increased more than four-fold from last year, an increase made possible by a $250,000 matching grant from the Hispanic Federation and contributions to Nuestro Futuro’s “Todo O Nada” Fundraising Campaign. The additional funding enabled Nuestro Futuro to expand its grantmaking portfolio to enable grantseekers to add capacity building support for mental health and wellness services and leadership development, identified as unmet needs by the community.
