Arizona

The Community Foundation for Southern Arizona has announced a new partnership with Catchafire, a certified B-Corp that connects professionally skilled volunteers nationwide with nonprofits with the aim of improving their infrastructure and strengthening their capacity. This fall, the foundation provided year-long Catchafire memberships to a hundred organizations in the Tucson area. Catchafire volunteers offer assistance with more than a hundred and twenty types of capacity-building projects, from quick graphic design projects to long-term initiatives such as leadership coaching and strategic planning.

Colorado

The Community Foundation Boulder County has announced $5,700 in Veterans Fund grants to four nonprofit organizations serving local veterans. Grant recipients include Warrior StoryField, the Medicine Horse Program, Homeless Outreach Providing Encouragement (HOPE), and Cultivate.

Connecticut

The Community Foundation for Greater New Haven has announced grants totaling nearly $3 million in support of forty-three local programs and organizations. Grant recipients include Animal Haven, Boys & Girls Club of New Haven, Columbus House, and Liberty Community Services.

Florida

The Community Foundation of Tampa Bay has announced the addition of Sheila Kinman as senior vice president of philanthropy. Kinman previously served in fundraising positions at the Community Foundation for Palm Beach and Martin Counties and the Community Foundation of Greater Des Moines.

Georgia

The Community Foundation for Greater Atlanta has announced general operating support grants totaling more than $1.9 million to twenty-one nonprofits. Grant recipients include Arts Clayton, the Global Growers Network, Jerusalem House, and Literacy Action.

Kansas

The Coffeyville Area Community Foundation has announced that it will host a match day on November 14 from 7:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Along with the Bernard and Effie Jo Wade Family Foundation and the Pratt Family Charitable Fund, the foundation will offer $40,000 in matching gifts to every donation made that day. Twenty-one organizations are participating in the event, and all gifts will be matched on a percentage basis: the more pledges an organization receives, the more in matching funds it will receive.

Michigan

The Community Foundation of Greater Rochester has awarded the first grants from its Community Enhancement Fund, Patch reports. Each year, 10 percent of the fund, which was established in 2018, will be awarded to one or more local organizations working to enhance quality of life in the region. A total of $7,500 will be awarded to the first group of grantees, which includes Rochester Pollinators, Friends of the Paint Creek Trail, and Rochester-Avon Historical Society.

Ohio

The Columbus Foundation is inviting college and graduate students with an interest in the nonprofit sector to apply for a ten-week, paid fellowship through its Summer Fellowship Program. The program is designed to help fellows build work experience and develop skills for a future career in the nonprofit sector . Now in its tenth year, the program will match eligible students with fifteen Franklin County nonprofits with internships running from June 2 through August 14, 2020.

Pennsylvania

The East Mount Airy Neighbors (EMAN) Community Fund, an affiliate of the Philadelphia Foundation, has awarded $69,700 in grants to six nonprofits providing services in Northwest Philadelphia, with an emphasis on programs serving the East Mt. Airy neighborhood. Recipients of the grants, which range from $10,000 to $16,700, include Artwell, Food Moxie, Jumpstart Germantown, and the Ralston Center.

Texas

The North Texas Community Foundation in Fort Worth has announced the appointment of Laura Q. McWhorter as its first chief philanthropy officer. McWhorter has worked at the Texas Health Resources Foundation since 1997 and has served as vice president since 2005.
