					Arizona
The Arizona Community Foundation (ACF) has announced a total of more than $34.1 million in second-quarter discretionary and advised grants and scholarships. The foundation awarded $7.2 million in support of health innovations, $4 million in support of community improvement and development, $1.5 million for environmental sustainability, $4.3 million in support of arts and culture, and $12 million toward scholarships and education-related efforts. In addition, 33 nonprofit organizations with agency endowments managed by the foundation received their annual distributions during the first quarter of ACF’s fiscal year, accounting for $5,054,866 distributed during the quarter.
The Community Foundation for Southern Arizona has announced it is partnering with Tucson Tome Gnome and Tucson Spotlight to host the Solutions-Focused Book Club, which aims to bring together the community and spark conversation. In its first meeting, the club discussed The Stonewall Reader and featured a panel discussion with local experts on the fight for LGBTQ rights.
California
The San Diego Foundation has announced the public launch of its 50th anniversary campaign to award $500 million. Established quietly in 2021, the seven-year 50 and Forward campaign is focused on education, children and families, and the environment. The foundation, which celebrates its golden anniversary in 2025, aims to raise $1 billion during the campaign to help fuel its efforts for the next 50 years.
Iowa
The Quad Cities Community Foundation in Bettendorf has announced that its Transformation Grants program has awarded more than $1.77 million over the past decade to 14 organizations. The grants have addressed issues such as housing and homelessness, education, mental health resources, cultural opportunities, economic development, and neighborhood revitalization.
Maryland
The Community Foundation of the Eastern Shore in Salisbury has announced its 2024 grantmaking efforts, which totaled $6.8 million in awards, including more than $637,000 in scholarships to local students. In recognition of its 40th anniversary, the foundation also celebrated its first ever 40 Under 40 in Philanthropy honorees, awarded to those under the age of 40 who give back to the local community as philanthropic leaders. The Mary Gladys Jones Volunteer of the Year Award was awarded to Bonnie Kreiser, who will receive $1,000 to direct to the charity of her choice. The Nonprofit Award of Excellence honoring Richard A. Henson was awarded to Lower Shore Land Trust. The Frank H. Morris Humanitarian Award was awarded to Leighton Moore, who will receive $2,500 to designate to the charity of his choice. And the Chairman’s Award was presented to Dr. Carolyn Johnston in recognition of her 12 years of volunteer service at the foundation.
New Mexico
The Los Alamos Community Foundation has announced the creation of seed funds, enabling donors to establish funds with a small investment over five years to reach at least $10,000 to create a lasting endowment. So far, seed funds have been established for Self Help, Inc. and the Los Alamos Arts Council.
Ohio
The Springfield Foundation has received donations this fall in support of the area’s local immigrant population, the Springfield News Sun reports. As of late October, the foundation had distributed $17,000 in grants to several local charitable organizations.
Texas
The Dallas Foundation has announced the finalists for its 2024 Pegasus Prize, a $50,000 social innovation grant awarded to organizations breaking new ground in addressing community needs. To that end, the Pegasus Prize recognizes nonprofit organizations that apply creative, data-driven, and cost-effective solutions to persistent challenges impacting Dallas County residents. This year’s finalists are buildingcommunity WORKSHOP, Spin the Spectrum, and HOPE Farm.
Wisconsin
The Eau Claire Community Foundation has announced that its Women’s Giving Circle (WGC) has exceeded $500,000 in grant impact since it was founded in 2007. This year, WGC awarded a total of $63,239.
