Illinois
The Chicago Community Trust has announced that it is accepting proposals for grants in the areas of workforce development, health, arts learning, affordable housing, and public/nonprofit sector sustainability. Proposals must be received by January 4, 2013.
Indiana
The Central Indiana Community Foundation has announced that Indianapolis Cultural Trail: A Legacy of Gene & Marilyn Glick received the Monumental Award. It was the trail's second such honor: The Glick Peace Walk on the Cultural Trail earned highest honors in 2010.
Louisiana
The Greater New Orleans Foundation has announced a grant of $600,000 from the Kresge Foundation in support of its organizational effectiveness initiative, which was launched in 2011. The grant will enable GNOF to work closely with leaders in social and human service organizations who aim to improve quality of life for the most vulnerable residents in the greater New Orleans region.
New York
The New York Community Trust has announced the winners of the New York Community Trust — New York Magazine Nonprofit Excellence Awards. The gold prize for overall management excellence was awarded to the Red Hook Initiative, while Harlem RBI took the silver prize and Open Door Family Medical Center won the bronze.
The Watertown-based Northern New York Community Foundation has announced scholarships totaling $740,662 to 352 students, an increase from the $682,570 awarded in 2011-12 to 303 students, WNYF TV28.com reports. The foundation provides scholarships to full-time undergraduate students and non-traditional students at any level of college or technical school.
Pennsylvania
The Lancaster County Community Foundation has announced grants to twenty-one organizations as part of its Ah-Ha grant program. Awards ranging from $5,000 to $100,000 will help support twenty-four programs, including the Crispus Attucks Community Center, Water Street Health Services, the Community First Fund, and the Spanish American Civic Association.
