California

The Community Foundation Santa Cruz County has announced a grant of $200,000 from the Monterey Peninsula Foundation to its Fund for Women and Girls. The grant will support a three-year pilot effort in the Pájaro Valley to provide thirty-five middle-school girls a year with mentors and school, life, and career advice. The effort will be led by the UC Santa Cruz Educational Partnership Center.

The Pasadena Community Foundation has announced grants totaling $626,447 to forty-three nonprofits in the areas of the arts, education, the environment, health, human services, and senior services. Recipients include the Armenian Relief Society, Door of Hope, Carnegie Observatories, and the Pasadena Playhouse.

Illinois

The Community Foundation of the Fox River Valley has announced a $15,000 grant to Giant Steps in support of the organization's Canopy Adult Services Program. The grant will enable Canopy to purchase technology that helps the twenty-six adults with autism in the program communicate, enabling them to enjoy a more inclusive, independent lifestyle.

Indiana

The Central Indiana Community Foundation has announced that, with two of its affiliates — the Indianapolis Foundation and the Legacy Fund of Hamilton County — a hundred and fifty-nine scholarships totaling nearly $1.1 million were awarded for the 2017-18 academic year. A total of forty-one scholarship funds created by donors at CICF and its affiliates made awards, with individual recipients receiving up to $20,000 each.

Maine

The Maine Community Foundation in Ellsworth has announced that it awarded two hundred and thirty grants totaling more than $1.5 million through its Community Building grant program, including a hundred and seventy-one grants from county and statewide funds and additional grants from MaineCF donors. Recipients include Maine Boys to Men, the Abbe Museum, Our Katahdin, and Main Street Skowhegan.

Massachusetts

The Cape Cod Foundation in Yarmouthport has announced that sixteen leaders from nonprofit organizations across the Cape region have graduated from the Institute for Nonprofit Practice's award-winning Core Certificate Program. The six-month management and leadership program provides nonprofit leaders with the professional development experiences, tools, access to networks, and strategies they need to ensure organizational excellence and drive social change.

New Hampshire

The New Hampshire Charitable Foundation has announced the 2017 recipients of scholarships from the Bill and Esther Levy Scholarship Fund. In addition to the five new scholarship recipients, the Levy Fund will continue to support fourteen other students previously selected for scholarships covering up to four years of their postsecondary education. In 2017, a total of $75,000 was awarded for scholarships through the fund, which has committed nearly $1 million since 2004 in support of more than seventy-five area students.

Ohio

The Greater Cincinnati Foundation has named Lisa Davis Roberts as its program officer for philanthropic services.

Pennsylvania

The Philadelphia Foundation has announced that YOUTHadelphia, the Youth in Philanthropy Committee of its Fund for Children, has awarded grants totaling $50,000 to ten nonprofits. The grants will address the areas that the teen committee members identified as the most pressing concerns for teens in the city: racism and minority empowerment, mental health, immigration, youth violence, and teen incarceration. Recipients include the African Family Health Organization, College Possible Philadelphia, PathWays PA, Urban Creators, and SquashSmarts.

Washington

The Seattle Foundation has announced the appointment of Asha Sharma, chief operating officer of Porch, a home-improvement portal, to its board of directors.
