Fox Valley Region Community Foundation Awards $3.6 Million in Grants

The Community Foundation for the Fox Valley Region in Appleton, Wisconsin, has announced $3.6 million in fourth-quarter grants to more than two hundred and fifty area nonprofits, the Appleton Post-Crescent reports.

The grants, which close out the foundation's 2005 fiscal year, include $3.5 million made through donor-advised funds, as well as $123,000 awarded through the foundation's quarterly competitive grant application process. Competitive grants of $1,000 or more were awarded in the areas of arts and culture, community development, education, health, and human services.

The largest of these included $12,000 awarded to the ThedaCare Community Care Program to address the needs of low-income diabetic patients; $10,000 to the Chain O'Lakes Ministerial Association to secure used vehicles for clients in need of transportation; and $8,000 each to Child Care Resource & Referral, to support a health specialist position at local care centers, and the Marion Area Ministerial Association, for alcohol and drug-abuse counseling.
