Irvine Foundation Awards $22 Million in Grants
The San Francisco-based James Irvine Foundation has announced thirty-four grants totaling nearly $22 million in support of its mission to expand opportunities for the people of California to participate in a vibrant, successful, and inclusive society.
Arts grants totaling $3.3 million were awarded through the foundation's Artistic Innovation Fund to the Los Angeles-based Center Theatre Group, the Museum of Contemporary Art, Los Angeles, the Old Globe Theatre in San Diego, and the San Francisco Ballet Association, while an additional $2.2 million was awarded through the California Perspectives program to the New America Foundation for its California fellowship program.
Through its youth program, the foundation awarded $1.5 million to San Francisco State University to develop the Metropolitan Health Academies at the City College of San Francisco, which will prepare students for careers in the health sector.
