Jack Kent Cooke Foundation Announces Graduate Scholarships
The Jack Kent Cooke Foundation in Lansdowne, Virginia, has announced the recipients of its Graduate Scholarships and Graduate Arts Awards for 2014.
Each of the forty-one Graduate Scholars, all of whom previously received JCKF undergraduate scholarships, will receive up to $50,000 to pursue a graduate degree at an accredited institution in the United States or abroad. The scholars will begin their studies this fall in a range of subjects, including law, social work and services, medicine and nursing, business, dentistry, public administration, computer and information services, engineering, international development, veterinary medicine, and drama therapy. “These outstanding scholars distinguished themselves as undergraduates, academically and through engagement in their institutions and communities,” said JKCF vice president of programs Emily Froimson.
In addition, twenty emerging artists will receive 2014 Graduate Arts Awards of as much as $50,000 per year for up to three years to study at an accredited graduate institution in the U.S. or abroad. Now in its fourth year, the program received three hundred and twenty applications and portfolios from students in forty-one states and the District of Columbia. “We believe that society is enriched through art and our most exceptional artists should be able to develop and share their talents, regardless of their financial means,” said Froimson. “By removing a financial obstacle, our award will allow these students to focus on studying and honing their crafts.”
