Wayne and Delores Barr Weaver, co-owners of the NFL's Jacksonville Jaguars, have announced $21 million in grants to thirty-eight nonprofit organizations in northeast Florida, the Florida Times-Union reports.

The Weavers personally selected the recipients, with input from the Jacksonville Jaguars Foundation, based on their educational, cultural, and social contributions to the community. Each organization will be allowed to determine how their grant funds will be used. Combined with gifts they have made through the Weaver Family Foundation, the couple has donated a total of $42 million to nonprofit agencies in Florida.

Grants awarded include $1.625 million to United Way of Northeast Florida and $1 million each to We Care Jacksonville, a health care network; Jewish Family and Community Services; the Hubbard House, a center for domestic violence victims and their families; the PACE Center for Girls - Jacksonville, a delinquency prevention program; the Community Foundation in Jacksonville; HabiJax, the Jacksonville branch of Habitat for Humanity; Community Connections; and WJCT Public TV/Radio.

"We came from humble beginnings, and it's just great to be given the opportunity to help these deserving people," said Delores Weaver. "The organizations provide a tremendous service to the community and they deserve every penny."
