Yield Giving, the philanthropic vehicle of Giving Pledge signatory MacKenzie Scott, has released its list of 2024 “open call” grant recipients with 361 community-led nonprofits receiving a total of $640 million.

The recipient organizations were selected from among the more than 6,300 applicants that responded to Yield Giving’s 2023 invitation to apply for a share of an at-the-time $250 million pool to support community-led, community-focused organizations that have an explicit purpose to advance the voices and opportunities of individuals and families of meager or modest means, as well as groups experiencing discrimination and other systemic obstacles.

According to Yield Giving, the 361 recipients—described as “vital agents of change”—were first elevated by peer organizations, and then evaluated by a “round-2” panel, all managed by Lever for Change, a nonprofit affiliate of the MacArthur Foundation. Awards from Yield Giving are typically unrestricted.

Grants were distributed to nonprofits working in 38 states and Washington, D.C., including 82 grants of $1 million each and 279 grants of $2 million each. Principle areas of grantee focus include civic and social engagement (55 grants totaling $94 million); youth/creative youth development (47 grants, $85 million); livelihoods and workforce development (40 grants, $80 million); bridging divides (42 grants, $71 million); and access to housing and housing development (37 grants, $65 million).
