New York Community Trust awards $7.7 million to 39 organizations

The New York Community Trust has announced more than $7.7 million in grants to 39 nonprofits working to build and sustain healthy, rewarding lives in New York and beyond.

This latest round of grants supports organizations addressing a wide range of community needs, including aiding newly arrived migrants, empowering women of color to launch their own businesses, and helping artists find studio space. The funding includes more than $1.2 million in grants to assist people living with cancer. Grants of $310,000 each were awarded to Cancer Care to assist with patient financial aid, God’s Love We Deliver to feed cancer patients, Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center to assist immigrants with cancer, and New York Legal Assistance Group for legal services to connect people with cancer with treatment.

“Local nonprofits demonstrate a tireless commitment to bettering the lives of New Yorkers,” said New York Community Trust vice president for grants Shawn Morehead. “We are proud to play a role in improving the quality of life for so many in our community through grants to help cancer patients access essential care, local artists find space to create, and much more.”
