People in the News (08/25/2024): appointments, promotions, obituaries

The Foundation of FirstHealth in Southern Pines, North Carolina, has announced the selection of DANA L. CASSON as president. She will succeed KATHY STOCKHAM, who will retire in December after more than 35 years. Casson previously served as vice president of philanthropy for Novant Health Foundation.

The Kansas Health Foundation has announced the promotions of VALERIE BLACK-TURNER and JUSTON WHITE to director of community partnerships and director of institutional partnerships and special projects, respectively. Both Black-Turner and White previously served as community impact officers. 

The Georgia-based Kennesaw State University Foundation has announced the appointment of THEODORE L. PARRISH as chair of its board of trustees, as well as the appointment of six new trustees: CARMEN CHUBB, RANDY KOPORC, HEATHER ROBERTSON FORTNER, LEE RHYANT, TRACY STYF, and MARK WILSON. Parrish is founder of Parrish Capital. Chubb is the principal and president of Columbia Residential. Koporc is executive vice president and regional president of Fifth Third Bank. Fortner is CEO and chair of the board of SignatureFD. Rhyant is president and CEO of LER Solutions. Styf is executive director of Town Center Community Improvement District. And Wilson is chief impact officer of VXI Global Solutions.

Sesame Workshop in New York City has announced the promotion of LESLEY BOURNS to senior vice president of its international social impact department. Most recently, Bourns served as the organization′s vice president of international programs.

Thought Leadership & Innovation Foundation in McClean, Virginia, has announced the selection of CASANDRA OLDHAM as director of autism programs. Oldham previously served as vice president of Autism First.

Vital Strategies in New York City has announced the selection of MARY-ANN ETIEBET as president and CEO. Etiebet previously served as the lead and executive director of Merck for Mothers, the Merck company’s global health initiative created to help end preventable maternal deaths.
