The Heron Foundation in New York City has announced the departure of foundation president DANA K. BEZERRA, effective December 31. Bezerra joined Heron in 2006 and has served as the foundation’s president since 2017.
The Rasmuson Foundation in Anchorage, Alaska, has announced the appointment of GRETCHEN GUESS as its president and CEO. Guess is a former Alaska state legislator, school board member, and healthcare executive. Guess, the second CEO in the foundation’s history, will succeed DIANE KAPLAN, who was the foundation’s first employee and the president and CEO since 2001, and who is leaving at the end of 2022.
Americans for the Arts in Washington, D.C., has announced the selection of TSIONE WOLDE-MICHAEL as executive director of the President’s Committee on the Arts and the Humanities. She is the first Black person to serve in the role. Most recently she served as founding director of the Smithsonian’s Center for Restorative History.
Big Brothers Big Sisters of America has announced the selection of TYRELL MCELROY as vice president of justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion (JEDI). In her new role, McElroy will focus on shaping the JEDI strategy for the national office of the organization as well as its network of more than 230 affiliated agencies across the country.
Philanthropy West Virginia has announced the election of three new members and two returning members to serve on its board of directors for three-year terms. The new board members are BROCK MALCOLM, vice president, board of directors of United Way of Harrison & Doddridge Counties; DAVID MORAN, board president of Tucker Community Foundation; and JESS PUGLISI-SANDERS, program officer of Community Foundation for the Ohio Valley. The returning members are MICHELLE FOSTER, president and CEO of the Greater Kanawha Valley Foundation, and ELIZABETH PELLEGRIN, board member of the Charles and Mary Fayne Glotfelty Foundation, who will serve as vice chair.
The Tent Partnership for Refugees (Tent) has announced the promotion of GIDEON MALTZ from executive director to CEO. Maltz will lead Tent’s expanded footprint and oversee its continued growth and strategy across the Americas and Europe.
