Resilient Coders (RC) in Cambridge, Massachusetts, has announced a $2.5 million grant from Yield Giving, the philanthropic vehicle of Giving Pledge signatory MacKenzie Scott.

The unsolicited grant was awarded just as the nonprofit—which provides computer coding and technology programming in underserved communities—announced its three-year strategic plan calling for expanded technical training programs and job placement services intended to “break down persisting institutional hurdles and create pathways to economic mobility.” RC plans to leverage the new funding to become a comprehensive tech hub where communities of color can learn, upskill, reskill, innovate, and infuse the tech industry with talent from diverse tech backgrounds.

“This endorsement validates our mission to dismantle systemic barriers that have hindered Black and Brown individuals from accessing opportunities in the tech industry,” said RC executive director Ayanna Lott-Pollard. “With this funding, we are better positioned to execute our strategic imperatives and empower more individuals to pursue fulfilling careers in technology.”
