Webby Awards Recognize Outstanding Web Sites in More Than Sixty Categories
The International Academy of Digital Arts & Sciences has selected five nominees in each of more than sixty categories for its 2005 Webby Awards.
Now in their ninth year, the Webby Awards, an international award honoring Web sites and their creators for excellence, creativity, and usability, will be presented on May 3. The nominees for best Web site in the Charitable Organization Nonprofit category are Beatbullying, the Natural Resources Defense Council, ReliefWeb, the Southern Poverty Law Center's Teaching Tolerance site, and the Global Resource Action Center for the Environment's The Meatrix.
"Since the web is now so integrated into business and our everyday lives, our new categories paint a more vivid and complete picture of life today," said Tiffany Shlain, founder and chairperson of the awards. "This year's diverse nominees provide a comprehensive tour of the best sites online, as well as a powerful sneak preview of where we are going next."
