Wilder Foundation Receives $2.2 Million for Aging Services
The Amherst H. Wilder Foundation in St. Paul, Minnesota, has announced its selection as the recipient of the Richard M. Schulze Family Foundation's 2010 Transformational Grant Award.
The five-year, $2.2 million grant will support the development of critical services for older adults and their caregivers through the Wilder Foundation's Community Services for Aging initiative. As the number of seniors in the Twin Cities area continues to grow, the foundation will work to ensure that seniors in the region have access to affordable and effective services that improve their quality of life. Support from the Schulze Family Foundation will enable the foundation to demonstrate new models of care that can be replicated across the broader community.
The announcement of the award coincides with the opening of the new Wilder Community Center for Aging. Scheduled to open in January, the center will consolidate most of the foundation's services for older adults and caregivers under one roof and will serve as a hub for resources related to healthy aging, memory loss, and caregiver support.
"The Wilder Foundation is uniquely positioned to transform the field of aging services," said Wilder Foundation president and CEO MayKao Y. Hang. "This award enables the [foundation] to leverage our combined expertise in direct service, research, and community leadership to better serve older adults and caregivers in our community."
