NetSquared

NetSquared

Mission:
To mobilize individuals and communities, provide Web-based tools, and award financial support that leverages social change.

Background:
Launched in 2005 by TechSoup Global (formerly CompuMentor), NetSquared works to leverage the community empowering capabilities of the Internet to help nonprofits and NGOs increase their impact and achieve social change. To that end, the NetSquared community is encouraged to participate in various challenges and offline monthly events. The NetSquared Global Conference provides leaders in philanthropy, media, engineering, and technology with an opportunity to attend interactive sessions facilitated by leaders working at the cross-roads of technology and social change; create new collaborations; and participate in a uniquely democratic approach to funding innovation through the Open Innovation Challenge. Since its inception, NetSquared has awarded more than $240,000 in financial support through prize-based challenges, incubated hundreds of social action projects, and fostered monthly networking events in twenty-five cities around the world.

Outstanding Web Features:
After becoming a member, registered users of the NetSquared online community can share their project ideas, success stories, and suggestions; learn about new tools and applications through a community blog; and support submissions in the project gallery. All projects on the site are available for distribution under a Creative Commons license. Visitors to the site can also download badges, subscribe to Net2 News, access NetSquared Global Conference information, and connect with members of the NetSquared team on various social networking sites.
