Arizona Community Foundation Awards $11 Million

The Arizona Community Foundation has announced grants and scholarships totaling $11 million in support of health innovations, quality education, arts and culture, environmental sustainability, and community improvement and development.

The foundation awarded a total of 1,382 grants and 416 scholarships during the first quarter of its fiscal year, which ended in June. In the area of health innovations, the foundation awarded a total of $4.1 million to 568 organizations, including Project C.U.R.E., Alice's Place, and the Madison Street Veterans Association. In the area of education, the foundation awarded a total of $3.4 million to 159 programs, as well as $1.3 million in scholarships to 416 students pursuing a college or university degree. Grant recipients include the Pat Tillman Foundation, the Arizona Science Center, and Youth4Youth.

The foundation also awarded more than $1.1 million to ninety-three organizations and programs working in the area of environmental sustainability, including the Yavapai Trails Association, the Phoenix Herpetological Society, and the Arizona Sonora Desert Museum; $671,588 to eighty-seven arts and culture programs, including Scottsdale Artists' School, Friends of Public Radio Arizona, and the Grand Canyon Guitar Society; and $358,213 to thirty-six community improvement/development organizations, including Arizona Town Hall, the Tempe Community Council, and Coconino County Community Services.
