Community Foundation for the Fox Valley Region Awards $2 Million in Grants

The board of directors of the Community Foundation for the Fox Valley Region in Appleton, Wisconsin, has announced $2 million in grants for the first quarter of fiscal year 2005, the Appleton Post-Crescent reports.

Two hundred and twenty-seven grants totaling $454,757 were awarded through the foundation's donor-advised funds. Grants from designated funds, which benefit specific organizations or projects, totaled $1.1 million and were awarded to 118 nonprofits. Supporting organizations, separate entities within the foundation with their own boards of directors, made seventy-eight grants totaling $380,725.

In addition, field of interest grants, which are awarded through a competitive quarterly process, totaling $81,197 were awarded to fifteen organizations, while the foundation's Opportunity Fund, which allows foundation staff and volunteers to leverage their knowledge of community needs, awarded $59,703 in grants to sixteen organizations.
