Arizona

The Santa Cruz Community Foundation, an affiliate of the Community Foundation for Southern Arizona, has awarded $40,000 in grants to nine local and regional nonprofit organizations working to improve the quality of life in Santa Cruz County. Recipients include the Angel Heart Pajama Project, Family Health Care Amigos, Patagonia Creative Arts Association, and the Santa Cruz Council on Aging.

Colorado

The Home Depot Foundation has announced a $50,000 grant to the Community Foundation Boulder County in support of immediate disaster relief and long-term recovery efforts to communities impacted by the Marshall Fire. According to CFBC, up to $5 million will be distributed through its Wildfire Fund to those whose homes have been destroyed or damaged, and an additional $500,000 will be disbursed to meet the needs of evacuees.

Connecticut

The Northwest Connecticut Community Foundation in Torrington has announced that it awarded grants totaling $147,250 to nineteen area nonprofit organizations during its third grant cycle of 2021. Recipients include the Beardsley & Memorial Library, Family and Children’s Aid, Food Rescue US, and the Nutmeg Symphony Orchestra.

Idaho

The Idaho Community Foundation has named Steve Burns as its new CEO. He previously served in leadership positions at Zoo Boise for sixteen years, first as executive director of Friends of Zoo Boise and then as director of the zoo. In 2017, he became head of the Hogle Zoo in Utah.

Massachusetts

John Vasconcellos is retiring from the SouthCoast Community Foundation after five years, WBSM reports. During his tenure, the foundation’s assets have increased from $30 million to $50 million, and its annual distributions have gone from just under $3 million to $9 million.

Missouri

The Truman Heartland Community Foundation in Independence has announced the addition of Joe Mullins, Beth Rosemergey, and Jason Snodgrass to its board of directors. Mullins is a workforce and professional education consultant, while Rosemergey is a family physician, and Snodgrass is the superintendent of the Fort Osage R-1 School District.

Nebraska

The Omaha Community Foundation has announced that its Refugee Community Grant Fund awarded $142,000 to fifteen organizations working to assist refugee communities and populations across Omaha. Recipients include Al-Huda Islamic Center, the Ethiopian Community Association, Karenni Community, and Prairie STEM.

New Mexico

The Santa Fe Community Foundation has announced grants totaling $485,000 to thirty-eight nonprofits as part of its fall 2021 grants cycle. Four grantees will receive a total of $45,000 in the area of animal welfare, nine grants totaling $90,000 were awarded in support of cultural vibrancy, four grants totaling $60,000 were awarded in the area of economic security and opportunities, a total of $225,000 was awarded in the area of education, and $65,000 was awarded to six organizations working in the area of sustainable agriculture and resource stewardship.

Virginia

The Community Foundation for Loudoun and Northern Fauquier Counties in Leesburg has appointed Caroline Nash to its board. She is a patent and trademark attorney at Nash & Titus.
