California
The Marin Community Foundation has named Rhea Suh as its next president and CEO, effective September 7. Currently president of the National Resources Defense Council, Suh will succeed longtime leader Thomas Peters, who has served in the position since 2000. Suh previously served as assistant secretary for policy, management, and budget at the U.S. Department of the Interior during the Obama administration. She also has served as an environmental program officer at the David and Lucile Packard Foundation and the William and Flora Hewlett Foundation.
Georgia
The Community Foundation for Greater Atlanta has announced it is a partner in the launch and growth of the National Black Bank Foundation, for which it will serve as fiscal sponsor while the organization awaits its final IRS determination letter. In addition, the foundation will provide ongoing administrative services to NBBF by way of back-office support including financial oversight, managing donations to the organization, and amplifying its mission across a network of eight hundred community foundations across the United States and help accelerate NBBF's ability to grow and scale its impact in local communities.
Kentucky
The Community Foundation of Louisville, in partnership with its charitable fundholders and the James Graham Brown Foundation, the Lift a Life Novak Family Foundation, BrightSpring Health Services, and Glick Philanthropies has announced the inaugural grant recipients of the Fund for Louisville Racial Justice. Grantees will receive up to $40,000 in funding that is renewable for three years, as well as the opportunity to share knowledge, network, and identify best practices to achieve their organizational goals. Recipients include the Academy of Music Production Education and Development, the Decode Project, Tech-Nique, and the West Louisville Math and Science Project.
Louisiana
The Greater New Orleans Foundation has announced grants totaling $100,000 from its LGBTQ Fund to nonprofits providing crisis support, education, community engagement, training, and other services. Recipients include the ACLU of Louisiana, Covenant House, the LGBT Community Center of New Orleans, and Longue Vue House and Gardens.
Massachusetts
The Berkshire Taconic Community Foundation in Sheffield has announced that the COVID-19 Emergency Response Fund for Berkshire County has awarded grants to nonprofit programs addressing mental health and the emotional well-being of children, youth, and families, as well as regional food coordination to sustain partnerships established at the height of the pandemic. Funded by the foundation, the Berkshire United Way, Northern Berkshire United Way, and Williamstown Community Chest, the response fund awarded a total of $182,000 in support of thirty-three projects estimated to reach more than eight-five hundred residents.
The Boston Foundation has announced quarterly grants totaling nearly $2.4 million, including commitments to BIPOC-led arts organizations. In addition, the board approved the distribution of $1.7 million to forty-four grantees in one- and two-year grants through the Open Door Grants program. The expansion of that program for the quarter was made possible in part by a financial commitment from Facebook, which awarded $20 million earlier this fiscal year to community foundations across the country in support of Black-serving organizations.
Michigan
The Kalamazoo Community Foundation has announced the addition of Stacey Charron-Milnikel as its donor relations coordinator. She previously served as a receptionist on the foundation's finance and administration team. In addition, the foundation has promoted Sandy Barry-Loken to vice president of grants, Kallista Fernanders to finance officer, Rhona McGhee to information systems officer, and Emily Olivares and Frances Vicioso to managers of the Truth, Racial Healing & Transformation program.
New Jersey
The Princeton Area Community Foundation has announced the election of Sonia Delgado to become board chair at the end of the year. A partner at the Princeton Public Affairs Group, Delgado will assume leadership of the board in December at the end of the term of the current chair, Anthony "Skip" Cimino.
Oklahoma
The Oklahoma City Community Foundation has announced $244,000 in grants in support of local nonprofit programs that create opportunities for underserved youth. Awarded through the Opportunities for Children iFund program, grants include support for the Arts Council Oklahoma City, City Care, Parent Promise, and Thick Descriptions.
